How can replies from a Shared Mailbox be "from" the user and not the Shared Mailbox?
We've got Shared Mailboxes sent up to allow a team to follow up on eachother's work, but that's for our internal benefit. As far as our customers go, we want everything to be coming from individual team members. Right now, if someone clicks "Reply" on a message in the "SharedAccount" shared mailbox, the message will be from SharedAccount@domain.com. Is there a way to have Exchange (or outlook) change that default so that replies will be from user1@domain.com or user2@domain.com (depending on which user is actually sending the message)?

How do they work fromt he shared account? It's my understanding that if they open the shared account as an additional mailbox in their own profile, a reply will look like it comes from them. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . That is what I was hoping, but it's my experience that it doesn't work that way. Employees add the shared mailbox as an additional mailbox in their own profile, but when they click "Reply" the message is from the shared mailbox, not themselves. Does it make a difference if the users have send-as permission for the shared account? Is it possible to leave full-mailbox access for the shared account (so the user can open it up) but _not_ have send-as rights? Would work, and if so - would it tell outlook "oh, I don't have permission to send as that account, so I'll just send this message as if it came from the user themself."?

Yes, that permissions configuration is indeed possible. Send-As is conferred in AD on the user object, while mailbox rights are in the store. But it wouldn't work the way you suggest--it would throw an error. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Hi Mesan, You could gave the send as permission to the users, and the user could send email as the shared mailbox account, with your own account attach; you also could give the full access permission for the shared mailbox, and then the users could check the shared mailbox account mails. You could refer to below: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996343(EXCHG.80).aspx Regards! gavin
